Police are looking for an unknown male who attempted to break into a safe at a dollar store in Eastwick.
At 10 p.m. on October 8, as the store at 3000 Island Avenue was closing, the suspect hid inside the storage area until all employees left the store, police say. After the employees had left, the suspect entered the office area and attempted to force open a safe, surveillance shows.
After an unsuccessful attempt, the suspect saw that overnight employees were arriving, so boldly exited through the front door. Surveillance shows him wearing a mask to conceal his face as he walks by the cash register as an employee confusedly looks on.
Police describe the suspect as a black male, 5'6″-5'7″, with a medium complexion, beard and stocky build. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and a red and black plaid wool (hunter style) baseball hat.
If you see this suspect do not approach him, contact 911 immediately or dial 215.686.TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847.
