DC mayor, city leaders kick off tree planting season

Posted: Updated:

Mayor Vincent Gray and city leaders will be kicking off tree planting season Friday.

They'll gather with the Urban Forestry Administration to plant trees in one southeast D.C. neighborhood.

The annual campaign is aimed at expanding the tree canopy in D.C and helping to make the city more green.

The UFA plans to plant 7,500 trees throughout the city through late spring.

Planting locations are identified largely by requests received from residents.
