The period of uncertainty is over. The Marine Corps Marathon is officially on after the government finally reopened.
The "Marathon of the Monuments," as the race is aptly nicknamed, will start on October 27 at 7:55 a.m. in Arlington, Va. The 26.2-mile course passes eight memorials, including the Lincoln, Jefferson and National 9/11 Pentagon Memorials. This year’s route is flatter and involves a new approach to the Capitol.
The race reached its maximum sign up of 30,000 runners when it sold out in a record two hours and 27 minutes in March. Family, friends and running buddies can track a runner’s progress in real time by downloading the MCM app and scanning the QR code on the front of a runner’s bib.
MCM Weekend will also feature the Healthy Kids Fun Run on October 26 and the MCM Finish Festival right after the race.
