Former Laker Run Down in Florida Parking Garage

Posted: Updated:

In a story from our affiliate WOFL, Orlando Police say an argument inside a parking garage led to a violent attack against former Lakers and Orlando Magic guard Chris Duhon.

Police say that Duhon was intentionally run over around 7 p.m. on Saturday.  Duhon and his brother in law, Julio Hernandez,  were walking down the middle of the parking garage when the driver of a black Lexus began honking at them to get out of the way.

Words were exchanged, and the driver got out of the car to confront the two. Hernandez says he separated the driver and Duhon, and he and Duhon kept on walking, and the suspect got back in his car.

When Duhon and Hernandez were about 20 feet away,  the driver accelerated toward them.  Hernandez jumped out of the way, but Duhon was struck and landed on the hood of the car, his head hitting the windshield.

The driver took off, and is being sought by police.  Duhon was treated at a hospital, but was able to walk out later, under his own power.   He says he has no memory of the incident.

Duhon was traded to the  Lakers in 2012.  He played with the team until he was put on waivers at the end of June of this year.
