Male body found in Chicago River on Lower West Side

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

The body of a man was found Monday in the Chicago River on the Lower West Side.

A resident of the area found the body at 9:23 a.m. in the river in the 2600 block of South Ashland Avenue, police said.

The body was recovered from the water, according to Fire Media Affairs.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the fatality, but said he remains unidentified Monday evening.

Chicago Police are conducting a death investigation pending results of an autopsy on Tuesday.
