ARLINGTON, Va. -

Arlington County police are investigating a possible pipe bomb found in a car during a traffic stop.

Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck says officers pulled over the vehicle on South Highland Street on Sunday about 4:20 p.m. A 63-year-old New York man was taken into custody for questioning. Police did not immediately release his name.

The Arlington County fire department's bomb squad was called to the scene to investigate the suspicious device. Bomb technicians detonated the device Sunday evening.

Roads were closed around the area.
