Fayetteville police search for pair of armed robbers

Posted: Updated:
FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. -

Investigators are searching for a pair of gunmen who entered a Fayetteville restaurant, attempted to rob it and ended up in a shootout with employees.

A spokesperson for the Griffin Police Department tells FOX 5 News that the two masked men entered the back door of the China Cafe after it closed Friday night. They held the employees at gunpoint and demanded money.

One of those employees ended up firing a gun at the suspects striking one of the robbers in the head. The pair exchanged fire with the employee as they fled the scene.

One of the employees was injured in the shootout and was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police say they are checking area hospitals to see if the robbers turn up.

Investigators are trying to determine if the pair is also responsible for robbing another Chinese restaurant in the area earlier last week.
