Sewage Overflow in PG Co, MD

Posted: Updated:
Excessive rainfall in the region caused a Sanitary Sewer Overflow at the Broad Creek Waste water Pumping Station at 10315 Livingston Road in Ft. Washington. It began at approximately 10:30 p.m. last night and ended at about 12:30 a.m. today.

The amount of untreated, diluted wastewater that entered Broad Creek has not yet been determined. Heavy rain lead to high flow that exceeded the pump station capacity.

Notifications have been made to the Maryland Department of the Environment and the Prince George's County Health Department. Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission crews will post signs in the area today and perform necessary cleanup.
