Fall comes early to Arizona! Residents enjoy the cool snap

Posted: Updated:

It was a windy and cool weather day in Arizona. Clouds covered the valley, bringing some early morning showers. And in the high country people got hit with a few inches of snow.

People all over the state felt some of the coolest temperatures in months. In the valley, the showers stopped around 9 a.m., but clouds hung in the skies over town all day.

The normal temperature this time of year is usually about 90 degrees, but today we were nowhere close to that.

We caught up with people enjoying the cooler temperatures -- bundling up in their sweaters and jackets that have been put away all summer.

These cooler temps also mean big business for some locations.

"This is a fun time of year for us," says Gracie Tolmachoff of Tolmachoff Farms.

From the pumpkin patch to the corn maze, this is the best time of year for the folks at Tolmachoff Farms in Glendale.

"When it starts cooling down, people start thinking pumpkins they've got to decorate, corn stalks, get the bales of straw -- they want to start decorating their houses."

The cooler fall-like temperatures means big crowds.

"The nice cool air today brought us out."

"It is so beautiful we saw it was in the 70s and thought we should bring the boys and my sons friend Alex and come out here and see the maze and everything."

"It's just fun to be outdoors, you don't get to do that much in the summer so now we can."

The cooler temps mean big business to other businesses in town too.

At A to Z Equipment Rental in Phoenix, they're hard at work filling orders for landscaping equipment while everyone changes over to a winter lawn.

"We have the seed, the fertilizer, the machines, the equipment, everything they need," says Damon Dioron of A to Z Rental. "This is a very busy time of the year."

And the sight of snow in the high country sends people into local ski stores....

"As the temperature starts to cool down we get an influx of people coming in getting ready for the winter," says Michael Meehan, Ski Pro.

At Ski Pro in Phoenix, the cooler temps means skiers and boarders excited for the upcoming season.

From the farm to the valley, people are embracing fall's cooler temperatures.

By the way, Snowbowl in Flagstaff is planning on opening November 29th.
