Water taxi service could come to DC region

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

Commuting to work by water could be the wave of the future here in the D.C. region.

A new study by a consulting company found that there is enough demand for at least four daily taxi service routes across the Potomac, Anacostia and Occoquan rivers.

It could be operated by a public entity or as part of a public-private partnership.

Some of the connections mentioned include Alexandria, Reagan National Airport, National Harbor and the District.

The full report is expected to be released in two weeks.
