NFL takes notice of Walled Lake Western's annual 'Pink Out' game

Posted: Updated:
WALLED LAKE, Mich. (WJBK) -

The power of pink.

The NFL is taking notice of how a metro Detroit high school football team has become ambassadors for breast cancer awareness.

And the rest of the country is about to find out how a community can a make a difference.

Walled Lake Western's "Warriors for Warriors" campaign began in 2011 and is becoming stronger every year. The football team, its fans, the band, everyone wears pink just like NFL players during their annual PINK OUT game.

Proceeds from the game are donated to breast cancer research. This message of support is even more poignant for one player whose mother died from breast cancer when he was only five years old.

This touching tribute is being featured nationwide Sunday during NFL games across the country.
