PHOENIX -

A CVS Pharmacy employee is behind bars, accused of pocketing thousands of dollars' worth of hydrocodone for her boyfriend.

But this is just one of many recent cases of people getting in trouble for stealing the prescription painkillers.

It's a story we oftentimes cover -- police looking for suspects accused of robbing local drug stores for prescription pain killers. In this most recent case, the suspect was a CVS employee.

This is Sylvia Reynoso. She was booked into jail after police say she ripped off the central Phoenix CVS Pharmacy where she worked.

Police say since January, she stole a few bottles of the painkiller hydrocodone each month, totaling more than 27 bottles. That's 2,700 pills!

She also stole two bottles of Xanax.

Reynoso was caught and arrested earlier this week. She told police she did it to appease her drug addicted boyfriend.

While Reynoso stole her meds while on the job – most medication robberies happen during hold-ups.

"In two months we've had two robberies and two attempts," says Rosy Vallin, owner of Rosy's Pharmacy.

Vallin says because of the recent robberies at her pharmacy, they've decided not to carry Oxycontin or Oxycodone.

"We no longer carry this medication because we do not want to be in that dangerous situation again," says Vallin. "It's something I did not expect to experience and something I do not want to experience again."

This is video of the suspect police are still looking for.

"As a pharmacist overall I've seen there has been an increase in the abuse for prescription drugs in general, but it seems in the last six months it's been in the abuse for the Oxycodone/Oxycontin that they're looking for. They're looking for the higher narcotics."

As for Sylvia Reynoso, she is now facing five felony counts for her theft of prescription painkillers.
