Report: 3 DC ambulance fires were accidental

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON, DC - An investigation into fires in three District of Columbia fire department ambulances in August says the blazes were accidental.
The investigation by the police department was ordered by Deputy Mayor Paul Quander. A report on the probe, released Wednesday, says there was no evidence to indicate the fires were intentionally set.
The report says a fire Aug. 2 in an ambulance parked outside Washington Hospital Center might have been started by electrical malfunction. A fire in an ambulance on the morning of Aug. 13 may have been caused by ignitable fluid leaking onto a hot manifold.
The third incident, later on Aug. 13, was smoke, not fire, from another ambulance.
Quander said no further review or action is needed.
