Posted: Updated:

Police in Washington, D.C., are investigating the death of a man from our area who they say set himself on fire.

D.C. Metro Police say 64-year-old John Constantino, of Mount Laurel, was found Friday afternoon on the National Mall with burns to his body.

He was treated for his injuries and flown to a nearby hospital in critical condition. He died later that night.

Police said his injuries were so severe that authorities needed to use DNA and dental records to identify him. No one else was hurt.

There's no word on why Constantino did this.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police.
