Tucson man sentenced for luring teen girl for sex

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Tucson man has been sentenced to 10 years of probation for trying to arrange a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old girl.

Pima County prosecutors say 25-year-old Alexander Zumot was sentenced Monday following a guilty plea to attempted luring of a minor under the age of 15 for sexual purposes.

Zumot also was ordered to undergo mental health screenings, register as a sex offender, have no unsupervised contact with minors and submit to recommended sexual-offender treatment.

The Arizona Daily Star (http://bit.ly/1fVDAdC) says Tucson police arrested Zumot in April. That was after the girl's mother contacted police about sexually explicit messages she saw on her daughter's Facebook account.

Detectives assumed the girl's online identity, continued the correspondence with Zumot and set up a meeting that led to his arrest.
