College Park woman attacked by 2 dogs

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -

A College Park woman is recovering after being mauled by two dogs.

Tamara Pitts said that the dogs that attacked her were running loose on her neighbor's property. She said they charged her as she walked by the house on Yates Road on Monday morning.

"One was in front of me and one was on the left of me, so they me like cornered me in," Pitts said.

Unable to escape the vicious onslaught, Pitts flagged down a passing motorist, who chased the two dogs off and cared for her until police and an ambulance arrived.

"I'm angry. I'm upset. I'm hurt," she said.

Doctors say she will need plastic surgery to treat her leg injuries.

Pitts urged dog owners of aggressive breeds to make sure their pets are properly restrained.

"When you see these dogs and you know who the owners are, and they don't want to properly restrain these dogs, call someone. Call the cops, the dog pound. Something can be done because this is very dangerous," Pitts said.

Fulton County animal control officials are investigating the incident.  Pitts says she was told that one of the dogs was located and officers are searching for the other one.
