Poe House reopens for October weekends

Posted: Updated:
BALTIMORE, MD - The historic Edgar Allan Poe House has reopened in Baltimore for limited weekend hours after a six-month renovation.
The nonprofit Poe Baltimore, which was organized to fund and preserve the house, reopened it Saturday. The group says it will be open on Saturdays and Sundays in October for free from noon to 4 p.m. The house permanently reopens in the spring.
Poe lived at the house on North Amity Street from 1833 to 1835. New exhibits show the story of Poe's life and death in Baltimore. The artifacts on display include his writing desk and chair.
Poe Baltimore is working to raise funds to help preserve the house and keep it open.
The fall reopening is part of the Free Fall Baltimore, a city-wide arts celebration.
