Fox's hit show 'Masterchef' looks for contestants in Phoenix

PHOENIX -

The hit Fox show Masterchef is looking for talent in the valley for next season.

Hundreds showed up Saturday hoping they have what it takes to wow the judges.

Gordon Ramsay has been called one of the toughest chef's out there and hundreds of people from Arizona are hoping they have what it takes to be a contestant on Masterchef.

"I've made a portabello mushroom stuffed chicken breast," said Ty Chowning, of Chandler.

"I made a braised short rib with mashed cauliflower," said Sarah Field, of Phoenix.

"I'm doing a braised pork chop in a tomato vodka sauce," said Jacquelynn Allen, of Casa Grande.

None of these cooks are professionally trained and that's exactly what the show is looking for.

"They bring a prepared dish, their signature dish. We like to say put your passion on a plate, whatever dish they think would wow the judges," said Liz Cluster, with Masterchef.

Close to 300 people auctioned Saturday morning.

Many are hoping that making it on the show will be a stepping stone to something big.

"This would be amazing. Hopefully I can win and quit my job and be a famous restaurant person or something like that," said Field.

"It would mean the world to me because I've been cooking ever since I was 8-years-old," said Allen.

All of the contestants are hoping they have what it takes to cook themselves up a spot on season five of Masterchef.

Phoenix is just one of 10 cities they will audition talent from.

From there, they will pick about 100 contestants to move on to the actual show.
