Police have identified the woman and child that were found dead after an apartment fire Saturday morning in the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia.

Firefighters arrived to the complex on the 4600 block of Howell Street just before 9 a.m.

The fire was contained to one first-floor rear bedroom of the apartment building.

The flames were quickly extinguished before the bodies of 11-year-old Elijah Rosado and his mother, 35-year-old Atlanta Deveny, were discovered.

Police are now investigating the two deaths as homicides.

There has been no suspect officially named in the case.

The exact cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.
