DC parishes celebrate Saint Francis of Assisi with animal blessings

Posted: Updated:

Some parishes in the D.C. area are inviting folks to bring their pets to receive a blessing.

FOX 5 visited the Church of the Annunciation School in northwest as students gathered outside with their fury friends.

Monsignor James Lockman joined to offer some prayers.

Friday is a particularly special feast day to Saint Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals.

Pope Francis, who took the saint's name, visited the town of Assisi, where Saint Francis lived and is buried.
