Local Foundation Donates New Coats For Philadelphia Kids
We may be having summer in October right now, but we all know the cold weather is just around the corner.
And one foundation has gone above and beyond to make sure that thousands of kids will have what they need to stay warm this winter. As part of the "Driving Away The Cold" initiative, they will hand out 6,000 brand new coats through October.
FOX 29's Dawn Timmeney talked to The Auto Dealers CARing For Kids Foundation. Kevin Mazzucola, the Executive Director, spoke about the initiative.
It's actually the second year that their organization is distributing to kids in Philadelphia. They've distributed over 30,000 over the greater Philadelphia area.
"It warms our hearts to do and certainly will warm them on a warm winter day," he said.
In addition, the organization has given $50,000 toward education supplies for teachers.
"Pencils, books and papers, that should be the least of the worry of these kids. Community strength is the way they educate their children and this is our small way of giving back to the community and insuring their success in the future," Mazzucola told Timmeney.
