A man dressed as Spider-Man was arraigned on charges he punched a police officer who told him to stop harassing tourists in Time Square. Junior Bishop, 25, faces charges of assault, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Police say the officer interceded after Bishop demanded at least $5 from a woman he posed for a picture with, instead of the $1 she offered.

PHOENIX -

It's one of the most popular sports in the country, played by millions of people every week. But there's a new spin on the game of golf.

Instead of taking a swing or a hack at your ball, this new idea is encouraging golfers to kick their way onto the green.

A hot new idea is growing in California, combining a pair of popular sports. And foot-golf is exactly what you'd expect.

Instead of tee-ing off, these players are "kicking off" -- trying to get a soccer ball into a large hole in as little shots as possible.

"But just like golf - the putting - the short game is going to be where you need to be making your best strokes," says Karl Van Dessel, foot-golf coordinator. "It's all about the touch."

Lilly Bewly and her friends heard about the new sport and decided to give it a try. So they put away their clubs and grabbed their cleats.

Foot-golf has been extremely popular this past summer, with more than 2,000 people signing up to play.

"We've had a number of coaches that have had multiple teams come through, soccer teams, boys and girls."

And don't be fooled by the larger ball. Keeping your shots on this fairway isn't easy. And don't expect to see Augusta or even Pebble Beach adding a foot-golf tournament to the schedule.

But that's not keeping these foot-golf players from dreaming of nailing a "goal in one."

In case you're wondering, there is an American Foot-Golf League, and Arizona has its own chapter.

But as of right now there are no local courses offering up a foot-golf course.
