Doggy DNA

Posted: Updated:
Riverdale, New Jersey (My9NJ) -

Residents of Riverdale, New Jersey are getting fed up with owners who don’t curb their dogs and are going to extreme measures to find out which four-legged culprit is making a mess on their property.

The Grande at Riverdale takes DNA samples of resident’s dog’s feces so if a stray pile is left unattended to they can trace and chase who didn’t clean up after their pup.

Eric Mayer is with Poo Prints which is the company responsible for the DNA testing. “Based on feedback from our clients, property managers, they tell us there is between 75% to 100% reduction in pet waste because the pet owners are picking up after their pets which is what they’re supposed to do.” Mayer said.

Surprisingly this doggy DNA testing is catching on everywhere and people seem to think that it’s making a big difference. “It’s gaining a lot of traction, not just in multi-family communities but in the city as well.” Mayer said.

Testing you’re dogs DNA can cost anywhere from $30-$50 for the initial samples. And fines for not curbing your dog start at around $250.
