ATLANTA -

Couples might often split the cost of date, but what about the cost of an engagement ring?

The Daily Mail reported this week on a survey about "going Dutch" for that diamond ring. The survey done by The Knot asked couples if they would be willing to do it or if they have heard of anyone who has done it.

Those in favor of the new way to buy an engagement ring cite that modern times call for a more equal partnership including the purchase of an engagement ring.

Critics say that the trampling of this tradition is yet the latest sign that chivalry is dead.

What do you think? Is it okay for a couple to split the cost of an engagement ring? Leave us your thoughts at facebook.com/FOX5Atlanta or on Twitter at @FOX5Atlanta.
