An executive from the world's largest pasta producing company has sparked a boycott.
Chairman Guido Barilla, of Italy-based "Barilla," said his company would never feature ads with gay families, saying his company values the traditional family.
He went on to say if people objected to that, they should eat a different kind of pasta.
Within hours, the hash tag "Boicotta-Barilla" was trending on Twitter.
The chairman later issued a statement apologizing for his offensive remarks and said that he had only been trying to draw attention to the central role of women within families.
