DETROIT (WJBK) -

A 3-year-old boy has been returned to his family after police say a woman reportedly stabbed his mother during an argument and fled with him.

Police say Jamari Cook was taken about 11:45 p.m. Thursday after what investigators described as a domestic dispute at a home on the city's east side.

He was returned to his family Friday morning.

Police say the child's mother was hospitalized and the other woman, said to be 27-year-old Shemeka McGhee, is still on the loose.

McGhee is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds.

If anyone has seen or know the whereabouts of Shemeka McGhee, please contact the Detroit Police Department's Criminal Investigations at 313-596-1340 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP.
