DC DMV rescheduling road tests because of staffing

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

The District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles is canceling most road tests until Oct. 11.

The DMV said Tuesday in an e-mail that about 800 customers are affected. The DMV's director, Lucinda Babers, says the reason for the cancellations is staffing. Babers says that her office is working to hire three full-time road test examiners and expects to hire them soon.

For now, customers will get an email or letter asking them to reschedule their road test. They also have the option to take the road test with a third party tester for free.
