2 slightly injured after copter crashes in Arizona

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Two people are slightly injured after a rented helicopter crashed while in the process of landing near Flagstaff.

Coconino County Sheriff's officials say the helicopter was about 20 feet off the ground when it went down off Forest Service Road 171 some 12 miles northwest of Flagstaff about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Deputies say a sudden gust of wind may have caused the pilot to lose control.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the mishap.

Sheriff's officials say two passengers complained of shoulder pain and were taken to Flagstaff Medical Center.

A third passenger escaped injury and the pilot suffered minor injuries and wasn't taken to a hospital.

Authorities say the helicopter was transporting the passengers from Mesa to a shooting event at a Flagstaff-area ranch.
