CHICAGO (AP) -- A nephew of former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley will stand trial in February on a charge of involuntary manslaughter.

A Cook County Circuit Court judge on Tuesday set a Feb. 18 trial date for Richard J. Vanecko. The trial is expected to last more than a week.

Vanecko is charged in the 2004 death of David Koschman, who died days after he fell and struck his head during a fight with Vanecko outside a Chicago bar.

The case has generated widespread media attention, fueled in large part by stories in the Chicago Sun-Times. The stories raised questions about whether Chicago police and county prosecutors mishandled the case.

A special prosecutor said last week that no charges would be filed against police or prosecutors because a 3-year statute of limitations had expired.
