Man Finds $6,000 And Turns It In

Posted: Updated:

What would you do if you found a bag full of hundred dollar bills on the side of the road? That was the question posed to one man in Maryland.

While driving at night on the highway, Robert Croft thought he saw something peculiar, so he stopped his car to take another look. It turns out it was a purse, and in it, Croft found six-thousand dollars.

He could've used the money, as he happened to just be starting a new job after being laid off. However, he decided to turn the money into the police.

After talking to police, Croft says he was worried that wasn't enough.

"I thought somebody was gonna get fired. Monday morning they have to tell their boss they lost some money," explained Croft.

So he went back to the spot where he found the bag, and after some more searching, he found paperwork with the name of a nurse on it.

It turns out that the nurse takes care of a 97-year-old man, to whom the money belongs. The money accidentally flew off the backseat of a car.

The man says he is happy to get the money back, his family will urge him to keep more money in the bank in the future.
