Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

Now that D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray has vetoed the living wage bill targeting large retailers, Wal-Mart is moving forward with its plans to open its first two stores in the District.

Wal-Mart officially opened two hiring centers Monday.

One hiring center is at 900 2nd street, northeast - that's for the h street store.

The other hiring center is in the 7800 block of Eastern Avenue in the northwest - that's for the Georgia Avenue Store.

The hiring centers will be used to interview job applicants and will be open weekdays from 9am to 5pm.

The goal is to open both D.C. stores by the end of the year.
