Family, friends mourn loss of Woodbridge High School student Kenny Diaz

Posted: Updated:
WOODBRIDGE, Va. -

Monday friends returned to Woodbridge Senior High School mourning the loss of their classmate Kenny Diaz. He was stabbed to death at Marumsco Acre Lake Neighborhood Park in Woodbridge around 3:15 Saturday afternoon.

Police believe his death was no accident and they're looking for several possible suspects.

Inside the school Monday, a friend snapped a photo of Woodbridge senior high students wearing red in honor of their murdered classmate.

Kenny Diaz was an 18-year-old linebacker varsity football team. A lone white rose was planted in Kenny's memory near the stop he was stabbed in the park. Police say Diaz was not the victim of a random killing. He was stabbed in the stomach. Jim Cassedy says he came upon the scene soon afterward and that there were a number of young people standing over Diaz.

Cassedy says police told him they're looking for four, possibly five young men as potential suspects. And that the victim knew at least one of his killers.

Police say Diaz lives on Bellona Road in Woodbridge. Neighbors say investigators were searching through a dumpster earlier Monday, looking for evidence. Back at the school, officials told us grief counselors were available to meet with students.
