Police say the man was chasing his girlfriend in another car down Hurlbut Street around 2:30am Sunday morning. It appears the girlfriend lost control of her vehicle and drove her car through the guardrail and onto Interstate 94. The collision ripped off the roof off a silver truck driving in the center lane. All three people inside the truck died. A passenger in the girlfriend's car was also killed.

Police tell Fox 2 the boyfriend drove off and transported his passenger to Detroit Receiving Hospital before returning to the scene. He is now in police custody. The girlfriend who was running from him in the first place is in critical condition.

Charges are pending in the case. Stay with Fox 2 and myfoxdetroit.com for updates.
