Ariz. firefighters battle it out to benefit cystic fibrosis

Updated:
PHOENIX -

Arizona firefighters flexed some major muscle in a competition on Saturday.

Firefighters from across the state battled it out to claim the title of fittest and fastest.

All money raised from Saturday's event will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The course the firefighters had to go through wasn't easy.

It combined all the skills needed to be a firefighter, including shooting waterhose at a target, lifting a hose up a four-floor building, running through an obstacle course, hitting target with a sledgehammer and then carrying a 165 pound dummy 100 feet.

Keep in mind, the firefighters did all of that wearing 60 pounds of gear.

The firefighters we talked to say it's fun to compete knowing that they're helping make a difference.

Saturday's event also included a 19 floor stair climb for the general public.

The organization raised more than $60,000 dollars Saturday.
