Hepatitis A alert at Bronx restaurant

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The New York City Health Department is urging anyone who ate at or ordered food from New Hawaii Sea Restaurant in the Bronx between September 7 and September 19 to get a hepatitis A vaccine as soon as possible after five confirmed cases of the illness were linked to the eatery.

The restaurant, which has been shut down, is located at 1475 Williamsbridge Road in the Westchester Village section of the east Bronx.

If you have any leftover food from the restaurant you should throw it away immediately.

One employee of the restaurant and four patrons have come down with hepatitis A, a liver disease caused by a virus. Symptoms include jaundice, fatigue, abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea.

You can get the vaccination from your regular doctor or you can also go to the Health Department's free vaccine clinic at the Herbert Lehman High School, 3000 East Tremont Avenue, Bronx, this weekend:

Saturday, September 21, 2013, 2-8 p.m.

Sunday, September 22, 2013, 2-8 p.m.

The Health Department investigates all hepatitis A cases in the city.
