CHICAGO (AP) -- Attorneys for the mother of a man killed after a 2004 fight with a nephew of former Mayor Richard Daley say she understands the need for a fair trial but that she wants answers about whether there was a cover-up.

A special prosecutor investigating the handling of the case by police and prosecutors said earlier Thursday he's finished his probe but that the details will remain sealed until the trial is over.

Daley's nephew, Richard Vanecko, is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of David Koschman. He's pleaded not guilty.

Koschman family attorney Locke Bowman told reporters that he would like to see the report released the moment the jury reaches a verdict.

He says if there's any evidence that authorities engaged in misconduct "they need to be fired."
