NEWARK, N.J. -

Two Atlantic County men were arrested on charges that they participated in a multi-year conspiracy to traffic counterfeit merchandise, according to the US Attorney's Office.

Brett Strothers, 32, and his brother Evan Strothers, 28, were arrested on Wednesday morning, according to authorities. From 2010 to 2012, says officials, Brett and Evan purchased large quantities of counterfeit NBA and NFL sports jerseys from Asia. They then used these counterfeit items at amusement park games to entice people to play, promising them the chance to win purported authentic NBA and NFL jerseys.

If convicted, says the attorney's office, the two could be jailed for a maximum of 10 years and fined for up to two million dollars.

Two other people are also under investigation by the justice department. Joseph Cuozzo is a suspected middleman, and Haresh Aildasani is the suspected distributor of the counterfeit Jerseys, according to the US Attorney's Office.
