"Just shocking how he's standing there looking at my house," said the homeowner.

The suspect was seen on a hidden surveillance camera, casing an East Boston Street home in Fishtown in broad daylight. He then goes in through the gate and shatters a sense of security that Steve Petroski has had for years.

"I've been here all my life. I grew up on this block. Never experienced anything like this," says Petroski.

He says that the thief got into the alleyway and into the house through the kitchen window before raiding several floors. The thief took a Kindle Fire tablet from a TV stand and sifted through several boxes of jewelry upstairs that belonged to Petroski's wife and kids.

"It's a bit scary especially with my daughters. I think they're a little bit unnerved," says Petroski.

Only his two Yorkies were home at the time, but he says they didn't make a sound when the intruder came in.

Steve's thankful he has the video to do the talking. It shows the suspect walking out with a bag full of the stolen property.

"I was happy I had the video. Happy he looked right at the camera," exclaims Petroski.

More people are relying on surveillance cameras to find people that may be up to no good, and those cameras tend be very helpful. Just recently, Pennsauken Police credited FOX 29 for helping them make two arrests after we aired surveillance video of a man lifting a laptop and thousands of dollars worth of jewelry.

At Steve Petroski's house, police dusted items for prints, but he says the video should be the best bet for East Detectives.

"The more evidence they have, the more help they have, the better off the chances they are going to catch this guy," says Petroski.
