FAIRFAX, Va. -

A pair of armed robbers are on the prowl in several northern Virginia counties.

The two men are believed to be behind at least a dozen robberies of convenience stores and other businesses in Fairfax and Prince William Counties as well as the city of Fredericksburg.

The latest burglaries happened Friday morning. The two men broke into several closed businesses in Prince William County. They stole cash and other valuable items.

D'vine Unisex Barbershop in Dumfries was one of the businesses targeted. Someone broke out the front glass door and went through the shop looking for cash.

Owner Eric Honesty says he is mad, but also glad the burglars did not get anything.

"They went into the cash register right there, but wasn't nothing in it,” he says. “I was worried about my equipment more than anything.”

Police believe the same burglars also broke into Angels Nails shop two doors down from the barbershop on Jefferson Davis Highway.

Before that, Tobacco Time on Garber Way in Woodbridge was also broken into and money taken.

Then police say the burglars hit a strip mall a few miles away targeting Plantinillos Grocery and Jewelry and the Latin Beauty Salon.

"This has been going on since mid-August, and what we have is two men who are going into convenience stores and gas stations,” says Fairfax County Police Spokesperson Lucy Caldwell.

The two suspects police believe are behind the burglaries and are also believed to be behind a string of robberies in Fairfax and Prince William Counties and the city of Fredericksburg.

The men were captured by security cameras at a convenience store in Fairfax County. The video shows the men, one wearing a red hoodie, the other a black t-shirt, entering the store, waiting for other customers to leave, robbing the clerk, then running away with a black handgun in plain view.

"What's unusual about this situation is that they are dressed unusually for hot weather,” says Caldwell. “In other words, in 90 degree days, they're in sweatshirts, so that's out of place."

The suspects are believed to be behind at least a dozen robberies in northern Virginia. Police say in one case, the men assaulted someone at a 7-Eleven in Springfield.

"People who are in the store, just remember to use caution," says Caldwell. "If you see of feel anything suspicion or out of the ordinary, don't hesitate to call police.”

Robbery detectives in Fairfax and Prince William Counties and the city of Fredricksburg are working together to solve the case.

Police say the men should be considered armed and dangerous.
