MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (WJBK) -

A former Warren Woods-Tower High School basketball coach who authorities say had sex with a 16-year-old student is expected to serve six months in jail as part of a plea agreement.

The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens reports 24-year-old Derek Knoll pleaded no contest to four counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. Under the agreement this week, Knoll also is to serve six months on house arrest.

Knoll was the freshman basketball coach at the school in Warren. Defense lawyer Mike Dennis earlier tried to get the case dismissed.

The plea agreement was approved by Macomb County Circuit Judge Mary Chrzanowski. She indicated, however, that she could back off the deal if a presentencing report reveals new negative information about Knoll. Sentencing is set for Nov. 13.
