Report says air traffic controllers made 41 high risk mistakes last year, 7 could have been catastrophic

Posted: Updated:

A new report from the FAA takes a look at errors by air traffic controllers - mistakes which officials now admit have likely been under counted for years.

Through a new electronic monitoring system, the administration determined controllers made 41 "high risk" mistakes last year, including 7 that could have ended in catastrophe.

According to the Washington Post, the number of overall mistakes is more than twice reported in 2011 and 2010 and more than three times more than reported in 2009.
