Help Find The Owners Of A Camera Found On Mt. Whitney

UPDATE: Family Is Identified From Lost Camera Found At Mt. Whitney

On the weekend of September 4th and 5th, Matt and two other members of his family were readying their ascent to the top of Mt. Whitney, the highest mountain peak in the lower 48 states at 14,496 feet.  It's a popular climb with its many switchback trails and breathtaking vistas. At the 12-thousand foot level, there is a rest stop called Trail Camp; it's the last big stop before hitting the final switchbacks that get you to the top of the mountain. I've done it. It's an amazing experience.

It was at Trail Camp that Matt found a Canon camera with about 1,800 photos inside. He looked around and couldn't find the owner of the camera. So Matt carried it with him, asking people along the way if they had lost a camera.  No takers.  So he brought the camera home and began looking through the photos to see if there were clues as to who the owners were. There were. The 1,800 photos span more than five years. And it appears that the family that owns the camera may be from Southern California, based on dozens of shots taken at Angels Stadium in Anaheim and a fire in Hawthorne. Matt and his wife, Lyn, have tried to reunite the camera with its rightful owner and return it, along with all the photos. Now we're trying to help.

Tonight, on the FOX11 News at 10, we will talk with the couple about their quest to find the camera's owner and hopefully someone will see the photos on our newscast. Check out the photos, see if you know these folks, I'm sure they'd love to have their camera and photos back!
