Crime rates rise on Metro rail system

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

Metro officials say crime is up on the rail system.

Serious crimes jumped 21-percent from April to June compared to the same time last year.

The crimes range from thefts of electronic devices and bicycles.

Officials increased patrols at stations to try to deter criminals.

Metro also held a 'lock giveaway' to make sure people are using secure bike locks.
