Hospital power restored after outage

CHEVERLY, Md. -

Power has been restored to the Prince George's Hospital Center's, however, it could be days before all systems and services are back to normal.

The situation started with a power outage in parts of Cheverly and Chapel Oaks Thursday night. The outage triggered a malfunction and fire around 7:30 pm.

The fire occurred in the power plant building on the campus of the hospital where three transformers were burned.

Back-up generators were used to allow the hospital to run at full capacity.

No injuries were reported and no one was evacuated during the incident.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
