Cobb County boy runs away from home for 3rd time

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga -

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office says a young boy who was found alone on Atlanta Highway Tuesday night is a runaway. Initially, the child had given authorities a different first name, age and told them he couldn't find his parents.

The sheriff's office says the 12-year-old, who first professed to be 10-year-old Jonathan Frances, ran away from home and will be reunited with his mother Wednesday afternoon. Authorities have not commented on what led the boy to run away.

Forsyth Deputy Doug Rainwater says the sheriff's office turned to the public for help in their search for the boy's parents. They posted his photo and information about his situation on the sheriff's office Facebook page. As local media distributed the content online, a person in Cobb County recognized the young boy from a missing person's report that was sent out Tuesday.

That person notified Cobb County authorities, who then contacted the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Deputy Rainwater says they found a report showing the 12-year-old also ran away from home in February 2012. There's also a police report showing the boy ran away in October 2012.
