Donations Pour In For Football Team After $10K Equipment Theft

LANSDOWNE, Pa. -

A big negative just turned into a huge positive for student-athletes at a local high school.

The Penn Wood High School football team had its home-opener Friday.

As we told you earlier this week, someone stole $10,000 worth of equipment from them -- everything from helmets to shoulder pads to coolers.

So far, there have been no arrests.

Since our story aired, equipment donations have come flooding in to the Lansdowne school, and the team was able to take the field Friday.

"The kids are great. They're excited," Athletic Director Rap Curry said. "They were just happy to be able to be out here playing, as you can see. And they're just learning how to deal with adversity. So, we turn a bad thing into a good thing."

The team says donations came from all over, even from as far away as Virginia.
