Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

If your end-of-summer weekend plans include a road trip - you won't be alone.

AAA Mid Atlantic predicts 811,000 D.C. area residents will travel at least 50 miles from home this

That's a 2.6 percent increase over last year.

Most roadwork in Virginia will be suspended until Tuesday.

Your trip might cost you more than you thought.

AAA Mid Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of gas jumped almost two cents overnight.

It now stands at $3.56 - that's the biggest overnight increase in six weeks.

As usual, drivers in D.C. pay more.

Drivers in Maryland and Virginia pay a little less.
