Father Arrested For Abducting 2 Daughters After Amber Alert

Updated:
WEST READING, Pa. -

Two young Berks County girls are safe after they were allegedly abducted at gunpoint by their father, police say.

An Amber Alert went out early Friday morning after a woman told West Reading police her boyfriend held her at gunpoint Thursday night.

The mother was able to escape for help, but he took off with their two daughters, threatening to hurt them.

"I've seen him, I've said 'hi' to him, I've seen them with his kids. I never heard him yelling at the kids. Neighbors have heard them fighting," said neighbor Nancy McNally.

McNally woke up to the Amber Alert on her phone informing her that her 6- and 8-year-old neighbors were kidnapped by their father, 33-year-old Hostyn Perez-Corza. Word spread quickly.

"A week ago, they were like arguing in the car in Spanish, loud. I didn't know who it was at first. They were right here in the car just arguing," said neighbor Jacqueline Figueroa.

An affidavit says the mother of the missing girls had moved out on Wednesday but went back Thursday night to pick up her girls.

"A gun was put to her, and she was pulled into the house and held. She was able to escape and subsequently got to a friend's house and contacted the police," a police investigator said.

The mother alleges in the affidavit that her boyfriend threatened to hurt the girls. She says the gun was stolen, he was using drugs and was about to be deported back to Mexico.

When police went to house to look for the kids, they were gone.

Thankfully, a nearby hotel patron recognized the 1999 Ford Expedition from the Amber Alert in the parking lot and called police.

"They attempted to check out. And so, he was approached in the lobby, and he resisted arrest, struggled against handcuffs and ultimately was subdued there in the lobby," Bern Township Police Chief Wesley Waugh said.

Police say they believe that before Perez-Corza checked into that hotel with his girls he drove around looking for their mother to kill her.

Police say he'll eventually be deported back to Mexico for a second time.

Perez-Corza is charged with assault, endangerment and making terroristic threats, FOX 29's Stephanie Esposito reported.
