PHOENIX (AP) -- Bond has been set at $1 million for a man accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend in Phoenix.

Phoenix police say 39-year-old Daniel Patrick Aumiller is being held on suspicion of first-degree premeditated murder along with a weapons possession violation.

They say 48-year-old Alan Lewis Pierce went to Aumiller's home around noon Thursday to talk to his former girlfriend.

Police say Aumiller allegedly shot Pierce and then fled the scene.

Pierce was transported to a Phoenix hospital, where he later died.

Aumiller was later located and arrested.

Phoenix police say Aumiller has four separate felony convictions since October 1996 and was prohibited from possessing a gun.

Aumiller doesn't have a lawyer yet.

A status conference for his case is scheduled Sept. 5 with a preliminary hearing four days later.

John F. Long, Mark Atkinson and Mission High School were locked down Thursday as officers searched for the suspect in the area of 56th Drive and Campbell. About 2:45 p.m., the lockdown was lifted.
