9 million adults in the U.S. take prescription sleeping pills

Posted: Updated:
Do you use sleeping pills to help get more rest?

A CDC study shows nearly 9 million adults in the U.S. take prescription sleeping pills.

Women are more likely than men to take sleeping pills, 5 percent versus 3 percent.

5 percent of whites take pills compared to 2 1/2 percent of blacks and 2 percent of Hispanics.

Researchers say millions of more people try over-the-counter medicines, chamomile tea, or simply suffer through sleepless nights.
